HOW TO WEAR A KILT TIPS AND TRICKS
A kilt is a historic garment that originated from the highlands of Scotland. Almost two third of Scottish males have worn a kilt. It covers the body from the waist to the center of the knees. The layers that overlap at the front are “aprons”. The layers that are around the back and the sides have a pleated design. Initially, kilts were made from wool and has a tartan pattern. 1. Wrap the kilt around your Waist.
- Hold the kilt from both sides like you hold a towel after taking shower and wrap it around your body.
- Make sure that the pleated side should be on the back and that the overlapping apron is on the front.
- Both edges of the kilt must overlap each other.
2. Fastening the kilt:
- Usually, a classic kilt comes with two or three buckle straps to fasten the kilt.
- One side of the kilt has leather straps while the other comes with steel buckles.
- Fasten all the straps to the buckles so you have a comfortable and secure fit around your waist.
- Make sure to get a couple of fingers inside the waistline otherwise it will be too tight.
- Adjust your kilt just above the navel so your kilt is hung to your knees.
3. Final Adjustments:
If you have worn the kilt according to the guideline then you are almost ready.
- Check that the fringe side of the kilt must be along the right of your apron.
- Finally, adjust the kilt by looking in the mirror.
- The front apron should be straight and everything looks in order.
- Make sure that you feel comfortable and confident.
